Essential Readings Book Club

Location: Downtown Vancouver, BC

Meeting time: Weekend, since we are likely all busy professionals; monthly or more often.

Type: Mainly non-fiction

Size: 6 to 20 members

Status: Starting

Open to: Highly educated people, including highly self-educated, who are serious and selective about books, prefer to read nothing but best books by greatest minds, and would like to join an intellectually and socially stimulating group to share ideas and thoughts.

All ages welcome.

What we read: The greatest books that meet at least one of the following criteria:

And many, many more like these.

To quote Thoreau: "To read well, that is, to read true books in a true spirit, is a noble exercise." (Walden)

How to join: You will need to submit two titles you strongly recommend, with a description of how they had an impact on your life and why you think they are essential readings. You may want to include a brief introduction of yourself and your reading interest.

If your recommendations are regarded as meeting our criteria, you will then be invited to a brief interview to determine whether the group and you are suitable for each other.

Contact: Amy. Please include “Essential Readings” in the subject line so your email will not be mistaken for spam. Look forward to hearing from you!
