A Novel Approach Bookclub (Bridgetown area, Annapolis County, NS) formed in 2005. Ten members. Host chooses the book to be read and discussed for that month. A different host each month. As a rule, we do not meet in July, August or December though 2009 was an exception.
Rating Scale 1 (lowest) to 10 (highest) Each member rates, then scores are averaged out.
Normally we have our 2010 booklist out by now; but we are abit slow. Several book titles that have been chosen and will be read in the ensuing months are: These Four Walls by Susan Cameron followed by What I Was by Meg. Rosoff, then Hit & Mrs. by Leslie Crewell. Other books yet to be chosen.

BOOKS READ TO DATE
The Bishop's Man by Linden MacIntyre. Scored high - a 9.0 or thereabouts. Lots to discuss...very timely topic for sure.
Water by Bapsi Sidwa. Scored really high - a 9.5; read the movie and then get the movie...the movie is superb as well, but sometimes the dialogue is a little difficult to understand; having read the book, you will totally understand the movie.
Guersney Literary and Potatoe Peel Society by Mary Doria Russell. Rated a high 9.
One Thousand White Women by Jim Fergus. Rated about an 8.
The Double Bind by Chris Boyjhalin. Rated about an 8, mainly for the twist at the end. Don't read the ending first, ruins the book.
The Book of Negroes by Lawrence Hill. Rated very highly; 9
Embers by Sandor Marai. Rated an 8.5 and much discussion.
