Booklovers

New Brunswick Book Clubs

Booklovers began in 1999. I've always wanted to belong to a book club and so decided to start my own. I asked people who I knew were interested in reading (including friends) to join and we've had about 8-10 members ever since, including 3 others who have been in the group since the beginning.

Our structure is simple. Each member has the opportunity to choose a book and when it is their book, they host. Hosting means that they are responsible for facilitating the discussion and making sure that everyone stays on-topic. Food and refreshments are served (and this is one of the most enjoyable aspects of our get-togethers, which happen about every 6 weeks. We break for July and August.)

I couldn't possibly give you a snippet about each book, but I have indicated which books generated the best/most lively discussion by ** and the books which were universally disliked or had poor discussions by ##. Sometimes the results were surprising...

The Cure for Death By Lightening- Gail Anderson-Dargatz
