Sorry long but hope this helps. Want to make a Christmas wall plaque for friend who says she loves a line from … she thought … the Diviners, or some other well known novel by Atwood, Lawrence, Shields or some other popular Cdn female writer. See what I mean? Not much help am I?
The sentiment of this supposed line, is something like the famous Thelma and Louise line (“You get what you settle for”.) but that is not the line. It’s just similar to that. I can’t think of what it might be … and I don’t order books online so can’t even begin to “search”.
Just hoping someone remembers a similar line and can help me. Thnx so much.
